Cincinnati Business Courier’s C-Suite Awards Showcase Cincinnati’s Top Executives

On August 27, about 500 attendees were at Music Hall to recognize the finalists and to learn the winners of the inaugural Cincinnati Business Courier C-Suite Awards. The C-Suite Awards recognize the top executives at leading Tri-State companies and non-profit organizations whose skills and leadership have helped shape success for their companies.

HORAN Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Kurt Krebs was a finalist in the Chief Financial Officer category. The winners in his category were Benjamin Mulling, CFO at Tente Casters Inc. and Gary Visher, CFO at Hightowers Petroleum Company.

“It was a true honor to be recognized among such an accomplished group of executives,” said Kurt Krebs, HORAN Vice President and CFO and C-Suite Awards Finalist. “Each of the winners has achieved much and profoundly affected his company’s bottom line.”  

A total of 37 finalists were named in five categories. The categories were chief executive officer, chief financial officer, chief operating officer, chief marketing officer and chief legal officer. 

A panel of five judges who are deans of business colleges at local universities determined the finalists and winners. The panel included Matthew Myers, Dean of the Farmer School of Business at Miami University; Becky Porterfield, Dean of the Haile U.S. Bank College of Business at Northern Kentucky University; Jamal Rashed, Dean of the school of business at Mount St. Joseph University; Sandra Richtermeyer, Associate Dean of the Williams College of Business at Xavier University, and David Szymanski, Dean of the Lindner College of Business at the University of Cincinnati. The panel whittled the list down to name 16 winners.

In the Chief Executive Officer category the winners were Candace McGraw, CEO of the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, Santa Ono, President of the University of Cincinnati, Joseph Byrum, President and CEO of the Ohio Valley Goodwill Rehabilitation Center Inc., Kelley Downing, President and CEO at Bartlett & Co., Steve Hightower, President and CEO of Hightowers Petroleum Co. and Charles Drucker, President and CEO of Vantiv.

The category winners in the Chief Operating Officers category were Deborah Hayes, Vice President and COO of Christ Hospital Health Network, Jay Woffington, Executive Director at Cincinnati Shakespeare Company, Stephen Hightower II, COO at Hightowers Petroleum Co. and Greg Livingston, COO and Chief Development Officer at Curiosity Advertising.

In the Chief Marketing Officer category the winners were Dave Knox, CMO at Rockfish and Jennifer Dorsey Powell, Executive Vice President and CMO at U.S. Bank.

The winners in the Chief Legal Officers category were Claire Combs, Network General Counsel at Mercy Health – Cincinnati and Kenneth Thompson II, General Counsel of the RELX Group.
