2016 Dayton Healthiest Employer

HORAN Wins Dayton's Healthiest Employer Award for Third Year in a Row

HORAN wins the Dayton Business Journal's 2016 Dayton's Healthiest Employers award. This marks the third year in a row that HORAN has won.

The HORAN wellness program was started in 2007 and currently has a 100% participation rate in at least one of the wellness program components. The program has evolved over the past nine years and has moved from participation-based to an incentive-based program. Today the plan is an outcome-based program which includes employees’ spouses. HORAN wellness initiatives include a health day with biometric screenings, activities to support healthy lifestyles like walking and weight loss challenges and premium discounts based on biometric results.

“We believe that healthy employees contribute to a productive and positive work place environment. We also believe that our employees are our company’s biggest asset. Because of these beliefs, our goal is to ensure that we are taking care of our employees and that they have the tools to take care of themselves," said Terry Horan, President and CEO of HORAN. “With the changes in health care and employees having more responsibility for their health care costs, HORAN believes that healthy employees are a key component in keeping health care costs under control. We want to be able to share first-hand knowledge and experiences of our wellness efforts with clients.”

The winners and finalists were selected based on an online assessment which ranks the applicants based on their answers to questions regarding cultural commitment, components of an established wellness program, communication and marketing and an overall analysis of the wellness data gathered. An awards event is scheduled for August 25.
